Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 8 October 2026

The European Leptospirosis Society wants this website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who rely on assistive technology. We aim to meet level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.

What we have done

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone; a “Skip to content” link is the first stop and the focused element is always visibly outlined.
  • Text and controls are designed to meet the AA contrast ratios, in both the light and the dark colour theme. The theme follows your device setting.
  • Animations are decorative only and are switched off automatically when your device asks for reduced motion.
  • Headings, landmarks and form labels are marked up so that screen readers can announce them.
  • Text can be enlarged to 200% without losing content, and the layout adapts to small screens.

Known limitations

  • Some older abstract books and programmes are scanned PDF documents. Their text cannot be read by screen readers or searched.
  • Documents and websites of third parties that we link to are outside our control.
