The European Leptospirosis Society (“ELS”, “the Society”, “we”) respects your privacy. This policy explains which personal data this website collects, why, on what legal basis, how long we keep it and which rights you have under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Who is responsible for your data

The controller is the European Leptospirosis Society, through its secretariat:

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it and we do not make automated decisions about you.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies. If we use website analytics, it is switched on only after you have agreed in the cookie banner. Details are in our Cookie Policy.

Who receives your data

  • The ELS secretariat and the officers of the Society who need the data for the purposes above.
  • Service providers that process data on our behalf: the website hosting provider and the provider of the secretariat’s e-mail mailbox (Google). Form submissions are delivered to that mailbox by e-mail.
  • For congress matters, the congress organisers appointed by the Society, only as far as needed to organise the meeting.
  • Members who join the Society’s mailing list are added to the Society’s Google Group, which is operated by Google.

Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, the transfer is covered by an adequacy decision of the European Commission or by standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries: for as long as needed to deal with your request, and no longer than two years after our last reply.
  • Membership data: for as long as you are a member, and afterwards for as long as accounting and tax rules oblige the Society to keep payment records.
  • Congress interest list: until the congress has taken place, or until you withdraw your consent, whichever comes first.
  • Server logs: according to the hosting provider’s standard retention period.

Your rights

You have the right to ask us for access to your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. Where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time without affecting what was done before.

To use any of these rights, write to info@eurolepto.org. We answer within one month.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority — in Croatia, the Croatian Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP, azop.hr) — or with the authority of the EU country where you live.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
